Moreover, even at the time, I felt intuitively that the attrition rate among armored units was too high. Now, based on more recent research by Glantz (who else?) and others -- information that was unavailable to the designer at the time the game was JCB IIIhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16490081362549015107noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4836956334020662322.post-62087741154080415692011-09-03T14:38:39.533-07:002011-09-03T14:38:39.533-07:00I really wanted to like this game when it came out...I really wanted to like this game when it came out. The problem was that it was really a matter of "the juice wasn't worth the squeeze." The graphics were fine, the system was intriguing, but you definitely felt confined by the situation. Definitely felt more like World War I at this scale, which is--I suppose--part of the point of the design. It just took a lot of work as a Erichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08733489090374129023noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4836956334020662322.post-86741561928381065522011-08-27T07:41:59.424-07:002011-08-27T07:41:59.424-07:00Greetings Don:

No, my main problem with this game was that the strategic options of both players were severely limited. In other words, much like TYPHOON, ERIC GOLDBERG'JCB IIIhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16490081362549015107noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4836956334020662322.post-79124224648227693302011-08-26T16:14:45.259-07:002011-08-26T16:14:45.259-07:00This was a game with a horrendous set up time. I wanted to like it, but the setup was a killer.

Eric was considered by SPI to be an unknown and they wanted to compare it's sales against John Hill's Battle for Stalingrad, as John wasDonald Johnsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07904992652259586383noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4836956334020662322.post-55624722547950256692010-12-26T12:47:57.179-08:002010-12-26T12:47:57.179-08:00Greetings Kim:

In my mind, the biggest problem with the game was that the battle space was considerably smaller than that of the old KURSK. This meant that even if you played with the free set-up option, neither player could really deviate all that much from their historical JCB IIIhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16490081362549015107noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4836956334020662322.post-49670964209231012022010-12-26T12:32:29.396-08:002010-12-26T12:32:29.396-08:00I think I need more plays with this game.
